About Payneham City Concert Band

The PCCB story

The Payneham City Concert Band has a proud history with its beginnings as the Murray Park Band, a brass band which later became the St Peters Municipal Band, before transitioning to the current concert band format in 1966. It was the only concert band in South Australia at the time. One of the early highlights was performing for Queen Elizabeth II during her 1954 visit to Australia.

Today, the band has a complement of around 35+ amateur musicians of varying talent and experience, with some playing multiple instruments, and a vast repertoire of music from which to draw. New members are always welcome to join us for Tuesday night rehearsals and supper.

As a community run organisation, we provide a number of concerts each year for your local community, as well as performing in various festivals and events supporting local charities. Our main sources of income are our fundraising activities, including the People's Choice Community Lottery, which is used to cover running costs, purchase new music, instruments, music stands and other items necessary to keep us going.

The Payneham City Concert Band acknowledges the support provided by the City of Norwood, Payneham and St Peters.

The band would also like to make special mention of its patron, the Hon Steven Marshal MP, and thank him for his ongoing support of the band.
